At Nestle, we offer a paid six month Co-op Program in Packaging during a school semester; Fall (June – December 2017), with the possibility of extending through the Summer or Winter breaks. Our Packaging team oversees the entire development process, from design to manufacturing. Co-ops in the Co-op program are given real life responsibilities through involvement in a variety of activities, initiatives, and the opportunity to manage their own major projects. The projects will vary in complexity and a give good exposure to a wide range of packaging materials and technologies.
Our Co-op Packaging Program provides the opportunity to assist in the development and industrialization of new packaging initiatives, quality improvements, cost optimization, and improved line efficiencies. Interns in a Co-op Program may have exposure to different experiences and a variety of projects. These may include: factory visits, qualifying materials or molds, leading a line trial, performing laboratory testing, developing protocols, creating technical reports, and/or attending trade shows. In addition, interns will provide technical assistance to various internal departments to support business goals and will interact with Nestle factory staff, internal customers as well as external vendors.
Our Co-op Packaging Program is designed to develop future professionals for our Packaging Function. These highly sought-after internships are comprehensive, interactive and strategically integrated into the local packaging team. We are looking for people with the right mix of talent and enthusiasm with proven leadership skills, strong analytical and communication skills, and individuals with the ability to work in a team setting are strongly encouraged to apply.
Potential Projects:
  • Lead productivity/sustainability initiatives to help reduce the material usage of existing packaging platforms by identifying, testing, and qualifying different materials or processes
  • Conduct extensive testing to evaluate product and package performance in a real world environment
  •  Design a new package format for different channels of trade (e.g. Club stores, Value, & Grocery)
  • Assist in preparation of documentation and specifications for packaging materials
Assignments for co-op program may be located in Glendale, California; Solon, Ohio; Marysville, OH; Bakersfield, CA; and other corporate and factory locations throughout the nation.

Requirements to Apply:
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Packaging to be completed by Spring 2019 and ability to work full-time Fall (June - December 2017).
Preferred Requirements:
  • One or more courses completed: Materials Science, Distribution Packaging, Food Packaging.
Additional Requirements:
  • Willing to relocate where assigned
  • Willing to relocate if necessary for assignment
  • Willing to work a six month work assignment during a school semester

  • Strong communication and analytical skills

  • Strong problem solving skills & a continuous improvement mindset

Associate Packaging Specialist, Packaging Specialist - option to venture into an Expertise, Project Management and/or Management role.
