General Description: The Maintenance Mechanic I will ensure that all utilities including refrigeration, temperature control, boilers, compressors, etc. are up and running. He/she will also be expected to perform PMs on a regular basis.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
-Demonstrate thorough knowledge of ‘Best Safety Practices’.
-Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
-Troubleshoot unsafe conditions and take appropriate levels of corrective action.
-Take and active role to ensure that human safety is never compromised.
-Utilize daily forklift safety checklist.
-Demonstrate superior knowledge of all quality systems.
-Comply with the Good Manufacturing Practices.
-Complete and document all product quality checks (appearance, packaging etc… ).
-Complete and document all food safety checks as required by the plant HACCP program.
-Complete and document all product quality checks as required by the plant MCP program.
-Actively participate in preventing and correcting potential quality related issues.
-Active participation in food safety investigations.
Plant Citizenship and Interactions (Grooves)
-Communicate and interact with others in a manner consistent with the company’s ‘Grooves’ and ‘I Can Make A Difference Philosophies’.
-Initiate, organize, and actively participate in team meetings, committees and task forces.
-Exceed expectation with regard to attendance and other guidelines.
-Repairs and preventative maintenance of all the Refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, inspecting the equipment, and performing daily rounds to ensure compliance of our PSM and RMP policies
-Ability to understand refrigeration advanced 2-stage design concepts such as the ‘down flow’ design as well as the traditional 2-stage refrigeration system design
-Perform routine and breakdown maintenance of boilers, air compressors, condensers systems, and waste-water treatment system
-Knowledge of the typical refrigeration cycle and of ammonia control valves and related piping as needed for safe service and repair
-Must be able to read and follow basic and advanced drawings and schematics
-Provide informal and formal training for other Utility team members as required
-Utilize construction and fabrication skills
-Ensure PMs are completed in a timely manner and maintain mechanical integrity of the ammonia system per RMP/PSM guidance
-Develop corrective work orders as needed
-Be actively involved in all of the elements of the PSM/RMP programs
-Active member of the emergency response team
-Complete daily shift record keeping and reporting as required
-Required to be certified through RETA as an Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO). If the person does not meet this requirement, he/she may still be considered for the position if he/she is otherwise certified through RETA as a CARO, level A or level B operator under the following condition: it is expected that the technician being hired take and pass the RETA CIRO Certification Exam within 6 months of the hire date
-40 hour Hazmat Certification desired
-5 years of refrigeration and HVAC experience
-Fully understand thermodynamics concept of the refrigeration cycle in its entirety
-2 years of boilers and compressed air experience, waste water experience a plus
-Solid understanding of control circuits
-Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot electrical components
-Ability to use and understand all functions of a multimeter
-Ability to troubleshoot control problems to the PLC or electrical component
-Strong aptitude for solving mechanical problems
-Ability to handle multiple and complex tasks well
