What to Expect
Our 1L Scholars Legal Internship Program is a paid, full time, 10-12 week summer program offered in partnership with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (“LCLD”) and the law firm of Mayer Brown LLP. This comprehensive program provides law students completing their first year of studies with the opportunity to intern with the in-house legal team at our Arlington, Virginia headquarters. Participants will receive hands-on experience working with the Nestlé Legal team in areas such as intellectual property, litigation, commercial contracts, employment, advertising, food law and general legal matters. In–house lawyers will provide mentoring to participants with developmental feedback to gain a better understanding of the unique role of an in-house law department at the world’s largest food company. Additionally, through our partnership with the Mayer Brown law firm, participants will have the opportunity to (1) work two to three weeks at Mayer Brown’s Washington D.C. offices doing work for Nestlé and other Mayer Brown clients and (2) participate in Mayer Brown’s summer associate training program and events throughout the summer. During the time at Mayer Brown, participants will have the opportunity to work directly with associates and partners, where they will gain experience and in-sights from working at a premier global full service law firm. Further, at the onset of the summer the selected participant will have the opportunity to attend the 2019 1L LCLD Scholars Summit in Atlanta, GA from June 4-6, 2019.
